VIDEO: Wisconsin Democrats Address MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany’s Extreme and Expensive Record

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Rep. Mark Pocan joined Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein and Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer to discuss why MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany is too extreme and expensive for Wisconsin. 

Under the MAGA policies Congressman Tiffany has rubber-stamped like the Big Ugly Bill, inflation has skyrocketed, Wisconsinites’ budgets are tighter and healthcare costs are out of control. Tiffany is out of step with voters and is more focused on election denial and protecting predators by voting not to release the Epstein files instead of addressing the cost crisis worsening under MAGA policies.

Rep. Mark Pocan: “I can tell you that [Tom Tiffany] is probably the most extreme person to have run for governor that I can remember in Wisconsin. He’s a member of the Freedom Caucus, the House Freedom Caucus, which [are] the extremists, the folks that hold up the entire agenda. Well, Tom Tiffany is a proud member of that group. And you can tell when you look at his votes: He’s voted with Donald Trump 100% of the time. He voted with Donald Trump to support his use of tariffs that are costing people in Wisconsin more in groceries and everyday goods. He supported Donald Trump on the One Big Beautiful Bill that’s cost us all to have increases in healthcare costs and utility costs, and outright taking away healthcare from at least 11 million people across the country through Medicaid and through the Affordable Care Act subsidies going away.”

Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein: “Nearly all Congressman Tiffany has done is vote for cost raising policies that make life more expensive for working Wisconsinites. And I want to tell you about some of his most expensive votes […] The Wisconsin Independent recently reported the expensive impacts of Trump’s new prescription drug tariffs on Wisconsin’s healthcare system — tariffs very similar to the generic prescription drug import taxes Congressman Tom Tiffany cosponsored in a 2020 bill that was so extreme only two other members of Congress put their name on it.”

Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer: “Congressman Tiffany’s extremist record is lengthy—but one issue in particular that Wisconsinites care about deeply is reproductive rights. And Tom Tiffany cannot hide from his extreme record on abortion. That includes his support for banning abortion nationwide at zero weeks with no exceptions, for rape, incest or life of the mother. In Congress, Tiffany advanced a national abortion ban that a recent report said could “make getting an abortion legally tantamount to committing murder.” Tiffany’s anti-abortion stance is in lockstep with his extreme MAGA buddies like acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who pledged to make the Dobbs decision permanent even in states that have laws protecting abortion. As governor, there’s no doubt that Tiffany would roll back the reproductive rights Wisconsinites have fought to secure in recent years.”
